November 2, 2020 (Humble, Texas) – CDI Energy Products is partnering with a global OEM to support a revolutionary electrostatic sprayer to combat COVID-19. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to show troubling trends worldwide and flu season fast approaching, CDI continues to seek out opportunities to support global health and safe recovery initiatives. In May, CDI ramped up its manufacturing output to provide critical components in that effort, supporting vital medical grade equipment like Oxygen Concentrators and Ventilators. Now, CDI has introduced proprietary, custom-engineered polymer products (piston cups) for a new electrostatic sprayer that provides 360-degree coverage for increased disinfectant protection. The result is an even 360⁰ coating of disinfectant. Proper disinfection limits the transmission of many communicable diseases including COVID-19, influenza, bacterial infections, other viruses.
“Businesses and institutions are increasingly using electrostatic sprayers to ensure quick, efficient coating of surfaces by liquid disinfectants, especially on large and intricately shaped surfaces. We custom-designed the materials for our polymer piston cups to ensure reliable operation, increased sprayer dependability, and extended equipment life,” says Kurt Hayden, Ph.D., Vice President of Engineering and Technology Development.
Low volume electrostatic spraying means less chemical exposure for everyone, and more sanitary conditions for all people in high-traffic, public areas like:
• hospitals and medical facilities,
• airports and on aircraft,
• daycares, schools and universities,
• hotels, restaurants and general hospitality,
• community centers, gyms, and more.
Hayden goes on to say that “with these new disinfectant sprayers, using safer chemicals and reducing waste, higher levels of sanitation and disinfection are achieved and the impact on the environment is substantially lightened. Preventing the spread of illnesses and communicable diseases is critical for safeguarding our families and our communities.”
Electrostatic technologies offer promising potential for 80% faster disinfection time and 3-times greater surface coverage per ounce while using 60% fewer chemicals per square foot. The ability to apply disinfectants at a rate up to ten times greater than traditional tools is a winning proposition.
David Miseldine, Director of Compression Products, is leading the charge on both the oxygen concentrator and the electrostatic sprayer initiatives for CDI. Miseldine says, “With COVID-19’s worldwide impact, CDI is focused on supporting the global battle against the virus. The virus is creating a staggering demand on disease control industries, with professionals in dire need of oxygen concentrators and advanced disinfection systems to control virus spread. Whatever we can do to slow the spread makes a positive impact for our local community and the global community at large.” Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, CDI has remained focused on the long-term health, safety, and well-being of our employees, their families, and the surrounding communities. CDI is proud to partner with leaders and innovators in the sanitation industry and to support people around the world in need.
